In the foreground, in fact, the artist has depicted the young Euridice, dressed in white, while
breaks it down to bite the heel of one who is not a snake but an animal with a lungocollo
which ends with a kind of a beak and a long tail. In the background we see the same
young girl while being sucked back towards the cavern's rocky after that Orpheus, who is a
a few steps from her, turned to look at her contrary to the agreement entered into with the lords
of Hades, as is reported, almost all the classical sources. Orpheus holds in his left hand a
musical instrument, while you bring the right hand behind the head and the face is facing the back.
In the background there is a cone-shaped structure with facilities to sort next. To
cone-shaped structure is
accessed through staircases concave on which are visible, perhaps, in the anime, while
the interior is surrounded by flames. Surely in this way, Titian wanted to represent
the hell of a town, also because the structure itself is enveloped in smoke. Always in the background but
on the opposite side you can see an extensive landscape with a bell tower, perhaps the bell tower of the Square
San Marco in Venice. There is, therefore, almost as a sort of opposition between the world of the living
of the one part, and the kingdom of Pluto, on the other.
